Russel immediately knew he wanted to help Romee.
In the U.S., there are about 70 million homeless dogs and cats trying to survive. Fortunately, some of them are adopted into loving homes.
Romee is one of those lucky enough to end up in a loving adoptive family.
Married couple Russel and Courtney Reynolds were driving on a road “in the middle of nowhere” in Georgia, as Courtney described the area.
From the car, Russel spots a dog alone on the side of the road. They stop driving, and he walks to the dog to check on it.
When he crouches down, the dog immediately starts jumping on him and licking his face. You can see in the video how excited the dog is to be with Russel.
Russel picks the dog up and hugs his new furry friend. They begin walking back towards the road.

Even when Russel is holding and carrying the dog, her tail is constantly wagging, and you can tell how happy she is.
Courtney, Russel’s wife, knew immediately that the dog was coming home with them unless they could find the dog’s owners.
The couple then brought the dog to PetSmart and bought her food. She immediately gulped down the dog food, finishing two bowls of food and licking her bowl clean.
Courtney said that it seemed like the dog had not eaten in a month.
After feeding her, Russel and Courtney brought her to a vet to check if she had a pet chip or any sign of a home. She didn’t have any of these. So, the couple was free to keep her.
They took the homeless dog home and named her Romee.
Russell and Romee had a special relationship from the very beginning.
“I love watching Romee and my husband because their relationship is unmatched. I’ve never seen anything like it. I loved it from the second he picked her up,” Courtney told the Dodo.
At first, Romee was shy around them. It took about two days for her to feel completely comfortable with them.
Now, they’re best friends.

When Hallie becomes too riled up, Romee puts her in her place, but always lovingly.
Today, Romee and Hallie are living happily with the Reynolds family.
While Romee and Hallie are lucky to be part of a loving family, Russel and Courtney are equally fortunate to have such fun and playful pets.
Not every day do you see dogs and humans have an instant connection.
However, this is what happened between Russel and Romee.

They said this senior dog doesn’t like kids. But Maria, who has two toddler daughters, adopted him anyway.
She named this senior Chihuahua, Winston Shingle Decker. And contrary to what she was told, Winston Shingle Decker loves kids. Or maybe it’s just her kids that Winston loves?
Maria’s daughters and Winston do a lot of things together. They take naps together. They eat together. They lay on the couch and watch TV together.
And Winston is just chilling with them the whole time. He has nothing but love for the girls.
That’s also because Maria and her kids have showered him with love since he came into their lives.
He was an abused dog almost his whole life. When they got Winston, he suffered several injuries while at the rescue shelter. He had a head injury from the rescue shelter. Plus, he’s completely blind in one eye because another dog bit him there.
Winston has not had the best life, and Maria is determined to make sure that he feels loved every minute of every day.
The viewers who saw the video thanked Maria for adopting Winston, a senior dog who has special needs. It’s not easy to take care of a dog like that. But her whole family was committed.
“Such a precious video. God Bless You for rescuing this baby,” Janet said.
“What lovely family. Teaching them such valuable lessons. Amazing parenting, thank you for helping little one,” jobe2231 added.
And Maria had one response that summed up why she rescued Winston.
“I make it a point everyday to make sure he’s living his best life… he deserves it !!!” Maria replied.
Adopting a senior dog, and a special needs dog at that, is quite challenging, and only a few people choose to take on this responsibility.
You will really have to give your time to make sure that you’re available to take care of them. Plus some of them, like Winston, can come from abusive and traumatic homes. You will need to give them extra care and love because the smallest detail or act can be an abuse trigger for them.
According to The Grey Muzzle Organization, there are five things you need to reflect on before you adopt a senior and special needs dog.
You need to be ready financially.
Special needs and senior dogs may require specific training, specific equipment, a special ramp built in your home or car, or a special diet. And this can cost money. If you’re not sure how much it can cost, ask parents of special needs animals.
Be emotionally ready.
You already know they will pass away eventually, you just don’t know when. Prepare yourself by having a plan on how to emotionally cope after their death.
The whole family must be okay with the adoption.
It’s going to be emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausting to take care of a special needs senior dog. It can’t be just you. You need help. And in this case, hopefully, your family will be there to help each other help your dog.
You need to readjust your lifestyle.
This is why it’s best to have the whole family helping so you can all take turns taking care of your dog. You will have to adjust your lifestyle. You can’t be gone for hours, leaving the dog alone in your house. When you go out, you may need special equipment so they can walk freely. It depends on what your dog needs.
Know your why.
Why are you adopting a senior dog with special needs? Why are you willing to adjust your life to take care of them? Know your reasons and make sure they’re strong reasons before you adopt a senior dog with special needs.
Watch the video below and see how Winston changed his mind about kids.

Two missing huskies
Sandy Hernandez lost his beloved pups over the weekend.
Ran away
While in the backyard, they both hopped the fence and were off. If you know anything about huskies, you know just how far they can run. After they hopped the fence, they took off in exploration mode without a second thought.
Dogs can get lost chasing scents and forget how far from home they ar
Dogs can just get lost in thought! Pet Hub says:
In most cases, your dog doesn’t mean to run away from home or leave you behind. They may even panic when they realize they’ve gotten themselves into a scary situation and can’t easily find their owner. It’s usually a simple case of instinctive canine behavior: the temptation to explore overrules all other thoughts, including obedience training and fear of punishment.
Regardless, it’s important to start looking straight away.
Leaving behind a concerned owner
When Sandy found out they were gone, he searched high and low.
He was out posting flyers hoping to find his best friends. After getting a tip, he made his way to the nearby animal shelter. When he arrived, it was a fateful moment that was captured on camera!
A photoshoot
Ocean Drive Magazine was doing a photoshoot at a local shelter a few days after Sandy lost his dogs.
The event was held to help raise awareness for strays and rescues in the city, hopefully spurring people to adopt. Photographers came in to take photos of the dogs and give them a little lime-light, potentially helping them to get adopted!
While the crew was outside, they decided to take some photos of a gorgeous pair of huskies recently found
Unbelievable timing
The Huskies had bright blue eyes and would look awesome on a magazine or website front page! With a volunteer holding the dogs, the photographer started snapping photos. The dogs seemed to be in their own world, just hanging around and enjoying the moment.
With the camera rolling, we hear a car pull up and an exclamation!
Reunited
Sandy had gotten a tip and had just arrived at the shelter while they had his dogs on the front sidewalk! With a loud voice, we hear him yell, “Those are my dogs!” Sandy then runs full speed to see his lost pups.
When he reached them, he simply pulled them into a huge hug.
Shocked and relieved
Sandy buried his head in the fluffy coats of his two dogs, completely overcome with emotion, while the cameras kept rolling. In something that could be out of a movie scene, we see what a truly happy and relieved man looks like.
After an emotional and tearful greeting, Sandy was able to take his best friends home.
Ragnar and Cloud, the pups, finally had their dad back. With the camera still rolling, he was filmed getting into his car with two happy and safe dogs.
It seems that fate and the universe needed Sandy to reunite with his two beloved dogs. Watch the unbelievable reunion for yourself in the video below.

Woman finds pittie sticking head out of window of stolen bus
On what seemed like a normal day, a woman named Melissa began hearing a “screaming noise” from inside a bus. When she turned to check who it was, she was surprised with what she saw.
Inside was a dog crying for help on an extremely hot day. She made it just in time to save her.
The dog was already restless.
Melissa called the police for help and they were able to successfully rescue the pittie. When they found the owner of the bus, it had come to their attention that the bus was actually stolen.
And just when she thought the poor dog’s bad luck is over, she was told that if nobody takes the dog home, she will be euthanized. And again, she was quick to save her life for the second time.
Melissa volunteered to take her home.
“I was very excited to give her a bath because she was so stinky,” the woman said. “And she liked it.”
She named her Lexie. It might have been something she didn’t plan, but she was ready to give the canine a lot of love. In fact, she took the dog to the vet for an overall check-up the very next day. She noticed that her new furry friend has some bald spots.
The bald spots were from all the stress.
“I don’t want her to ever feel like she’s ever gonna be left alone again,” she lovingly said. Indeed, this woman is Lexie’s knight in shining armor!
Melissa was initially worried if the rescue dog will get along just fine with her other dog, Roadie. According to her, Roadie really loves her own space so having another dog to share that with was a huge adjustment for her.
Thankfully, the two dogs instantly clicked!
Now that she finally got Roadie’s approval, it was now the time for the next step: see if she will get along with Ben, her partner. He was quite overwhelmed with all the “puppy energy.”
“Lexie went over and cuddled up on Ben’s lap as if she was saying ‘Thank you.’ And I was like, ‘She’s ours,’” she recounted.
Ben fell in love with Lexie.
But the love Lexie received wasn’t only from her new family, even Melissa’s TikTok followers send her a lot of love too!
“My TikTok followers were all asking to send Lexie toys. It was like a kid on a Christmas morning,” she shared.
The dog was confused.
It was as if Lexie couldn’t believe all these toys are hers. She must have suffered so much in the past that she’s not used to the brand new life she has.
“She’s like my little shadow. She always needs to be on top of me,” Melissa said. “It’s crazy how much capacity she has to love even with the conditions she was in. She’s not going anywhere.”
It’s safe to say that Lexie has finally found her forever home in the arms of a family who truly adores her.
Check out the video below to watch Lexie’s story.
